Concept note for the high-level ministerial segment

Theme Topic: Inequality in the era of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development

The adoption of 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) have raised new opportunities to address the issue of inequality of income and of opportunities. With a pledge that no one would be left behind, the SDGs include a stand-alone goal to reduce inequality within and among countries. This study seeks to analyse key trends and disentangle various underlying and emerging drivers of rising inequalities in Asia and the Pacific. It aims to produce policy lessons that may help build more inclusive and equitable societies in the region.
