Consisting of executives and representatives of leading businesses in a wide range of industries and sectors from across the Asia-Pacific region, the ESCAP Sustainable Business Network (ESBN) is set up to drive businesses in working towards the 2030 Sustainable Agenda and associated Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Members of the ESBN consist of business leaders, CEOs, and heads of sustainability from companies from and/or with substantial operations in the countries/economies of the ESCAP region. Members commit to: (a) actively participate in meetings and contribute to driving selective ESBN initiatives and activities; (b) advance own company sustainability, including by being a signatory of the United Nations Global Compact, tracking and reporting on sustainability progress by issuing annual sustainability reports, and taking action on climate, preferably by setting emission reduction targets aligned with what science says will be needed to limit global temperature rise to 1.5°C.
ESBN activities are implemented through its taskforces. The ESBN is also a key partner and co-organizer of the annual Asia-Pacific Business Forum.
For more information, see the Terms of Reference for the ESBN here.
Prospective members are screened in line with the UN Guidance on Due Diligence for Business Sector Partnerships (here).
