27 to 28 May 2016 | By invitation only

The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) is organizing two high-level side events during the Midterm Review of the Istanbul Programme of Action on 27-28 May 2016 in Antalya, Turkey.

The first event "Towards the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals in the Asia-Pacific LDCs", co-hosted by the Government of the Netherlands, is intended to address the challenges for simultaneous implementation of the Istanbul Programme of Action and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in least developed countries (LDCs).

The second event "Harnessing Technology and Innovation for Sustainable Development in Asia and the Pacific: Challenges and Opportunities" discusses the key innovation and technology challenges and opportunities that LDCs see lying ahead and provides insights on how effective technology and innovation collaboration and cooperation can be achieved.

Both of our events will be organized as a high-level panel discussion, which will be followed by an open discussion. Dr. Shamshad Akhtar, Under-Secretary General of the United Nations and Executive Secretary of ESCAP will moderate the session. The panel will include Ministers from the Asia-Pacific region, private sector and CSO representatives.
