The objective of the training is to strengthen capacity of Ministry of Trade officials in NTMs that will support the on-going Indonesia-EU CEPA negotiation.
The third set of trainings will delve deeper into the models employed for quantifying the impact of NTMs, following on the brief introduction of the quantitative approaches introduced in Workshop No 2. These will cover more deeply how to model the NTMs and quantify the Ad Valorem equivalents of NTMs and introduce them into a trade model for simulation purposes.
The course will be based on the open source software, R. R is a language and environment for statistical computing and graphics. R is not only a powerful and flexible environment in which to implement statistical techniques; it is also a free software, which runs on a wide variety of platforms and similar systems, such as UNIX, Windows and MacOS. Participants will be introduced to R and learn how to use it to analyse trade and NTM data, summarize information, build indicators, estimate gravity models and operate a partial equilibrium model built in R which incorporates tariffs and non-tariff barriers.
