Abstract

As part of the Asian Highway promotion and development, ESCAP, in consultation with Asian Highway focal points in member States, undertook four prefeasibility studies of Asian Highway priority sections (one in each subregion) to promote investment in the Asian Highway network. The outcome of the studies showcased investment opportunities at an Asian Highway Investment Forum in which donors, international and subregional organizations, and private sector were invited to participate. The Forum also provided an opportunity for the member States to explore mobilization of technical and financial resources for upgrading of the Asian Highway network, ultimately contributing to economic and trade development, and poverty reduction of the region.
