Technical Working Session on Profiling Equity Focused Information
ESCAP together with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) were organised the technical session on profiling equity focused information. It was the first joint working session to support national statistical offices to report on equity and deprivations facing children, women and other deprived populations.
Reporting on quality statistics to provide information about the most disadvantaged and marginalised populations is central to the “data revolution” and post-2015 agenda to make data work directly in support of development and to leave no one behind. Strengthening the capacity of national statistical offices to shift from data collectors to information providers is one the overarching goals of the Regional Strategy for Population and Social Statistics in Asia and the Pacific endorsed by the UNESCAP Committee on Statistics.
