Regional workshop on Using Evidence Based Trade Policy for Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in LDCs and LLDCs
The Trade, Investment and Innovation Division of ESCAP, in collaboration with ARTNeT, supports least developed countries in effective policy planning and implementation on the issues of trade and investment. As part of this work, we have organized capacity building workshops in collaboration with the Government of Bhutan for the least developed countries in 2016 and 2017, which were very successful. One of the outcomes of 2017 workshop was establishment of an ARTNeT Expert Group on Trade and SDGs.
Given the importance of SDGs and challenges being faced by our member States, ESCAP, in collaboration with the Government of Bhutan, is organizing a regional workshop on “Using Evidence Based Trade Policy for Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in LDCs and LLDCs” in Thimphu, Bhutan, from 3 to 5 September 2018. The objectives of the workshop are to (a) provide a regional platform for sharing of best practices as well as challenges being faced in meeting the SDGs and using trade as a means of implementation; (b) identify policy options that can help address the above-mentioned challenges; and (c) review the state of data availability with respect to the trade related targets and indicators.
