20 April to 02 May 2019 | By invitation only

The Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and the Secretariat of the World Trade Organization (WTO) are organizing a Regional Workshop on LDC Graduation for Least Developed Countries in Asia, from 30 April to 2 May 2019, Bangkok, Thailand.

The purpose of the workshop is to improve the knowledge and understanding of the participants of the implications of LDC graduation and build their capacity to address the challenges arising from the loss of LDC-specific benefits. The workshop will provide participants the opportunity to learn about the graduation process and examine its likely impact on their participation in the WTO, as well as preferential trade. Participants will play an active role in identifying options and strategies for their countries to smoothly integrate into the global economy for successful LDC graduation and sustainable development. Each national delegation will be invited to complete a questionnaire on graduation in advance of the workshop and give a presentation at the workshop on the preparations by their governments to address the challenges of graduation.
