The fifth session of the Committee on Disaster Risk Reduction will be held from 10 to 12 October 2017 at the United Nations Conference Center in Bangkok, Thailand. The Committee is organized by the Information and Communications Technology and Disaster Risk Reduction Division of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP).
As a subsidiary body of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, the Committee on Disaster Risk Reduction is the formal intergovernmental legislative forum on disaster risk reduction. The Committee session will take place during the ESCAP Disaster Resilience Week, which will be held from 9 to 12 October 2017. Various expert group meetings and side events will be held prior to the Committee to enrich its discussions.
