Enhancing infrastructure quality along the Asian Highway network is a significant opportunity to raise the overall sustainability of the road transport sector. Improving substandard roads and adoption of new technologies enhance the seamlessness of national and international road transport, which can lead to more optimal use of road freight vehicles and reduce emissions and environmental impact.
Against this background, ESCAP Transport Division is undertaking a study project on “Supporting the polices on green and resilient transport infrastructure along the Asian Highway Network”. The project aims to strengthen sustainable transport connectivity by collecting and disseminating best practices in the development of low carbon and resilient road infrastructure. The project also provides an opportunity to explore regional solutions for greater multimodal connectivity through use of rail and inland waterways and for a more seamless operationalization of international transport corridors.
Within the scope of project activities, a series of subregional capacity building workshops is organized to disseminate the study finding and other best practices. These workshops will contribute to human resource development and knowledge transfer of technical knowledge to the focal countries.
This particular Workshop focuses on “Connectivity along the Trans-Caspian / Eurasian Middle Transport Corridor”. The Workshop is co-hosted by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Türkiye.
Attendance to the Workshop is by invitation only. For more information, please contact: Mr. Edouard Chong, Transport Division, e-mail: [email protected].
