The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the Convention, the Kyoto Protocol and the Paris Agreement, and in collaboration with United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), organize this training workshop on climate finance access and mobilization for the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) in Asia, from 8 to 11 August 2022 in UNESCAP Headquarters, Bangkok, Thailand.
The workshop is being organized under the auspices of the Needs-based Climate Finance Project (NBF) of the UNFCCC secretariat.
The 26th session of the Conference of the Parties reiterated that the secretariat, in collaboration with the operating entities of the Financial Mechanism, United Nations agencies and bilateral, regional and other multilateral channels, will continue to explore ways and means to assist developing country Parties in assessing their needs and priorities, in a country-driven manner, including technological and capacity-building needs, and in translating climate finance needs into action. The Climate Finance Access and Mobilization Strategy has been developed by the LDCs in Asia as part of the NBF Project which will now form the basis for collective efforts in accessing and mobilizing climate finance for the region.
The workshop is being convened among experts from six countries in the LDCs in Asia to enhance their skills and exchange experiences in mobilizing and accessing climate finance.
