The Fourth Ministerial Conference on Space Applications for Sustainable Development in Asia and the Pacific will be jointly held by the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and the Government of Indonesia on Wednesday, 26 October 2022 in Jakarta, Indonesia. The major outcomes of the Ministerial Conference are expected to be concrete member State-driven regional initiatives and proposed pathways to support the implementation of the second phase of the Asia-Pacific Plan of Action on Space Applications for Sustainable Development (2018–2030) and a ministerial declaration that reflect the decisions of Governments to advance regional cooperation in space applications for sustainable development.
The Intergovernmental Consultative Committee (ICC) on the Regional Space Application Programme for Sustainable Development (RESAP) at its twenty-fifth session in August 2021 decided to organise an Informal Working Group (IWG) on the preparations for the Ministerial Conference, 16 Governments have nominated 31 experts to serve as members of the IWG.
The IWG decided to convene monthly meetings finalise various conference documents. Its third meeting on 12 September from 09:00 to 12:00 hrs (UTC+7, Bangkok time) will focus mainly on finalizing the text of draft ministerial declaration for submission to members and associate members of the ESCAP Commission.
