Overview

Side event of the UN Association of Russia at the Third Ministerial Conference on Regional Economic Cooperation and Integration in Asia and the Pacific (UN ESCAP). The event is organized with the support of the Embassy of The Russian Federation in the Kingdom Of Thailand and Sber, one of the largest banks in Russia.

The event aims to discuss the current status of cooperation in the ESG finance sector between Russia and the Asia-Pacific region (APAC) and its stakeholders as well as to identify available projects and initiatives to strengthen such cooperation and contribute to building resilience to crises.

As a part of discussion we plan to address the following issues:

  1. current ESG finance practices, related projects and examples of such cooperation within APAC;
  2. the importance of ESG finance and climate policy coherence, including development of common approaches towards ESG finance regulation (e.g. taxonomy, ESG requirements for suppliers, ESG reporting, etc.);
  3. ways to accelerate development of ESG projects in Russia and APAC, including transfer of technology;
  4. opportunities for the establishment of a platform on ESG finance under the auspices of the ESCAP Committee on Macroeconomic Policy, Poverty Reduction, and Financing for Development.
