The above-mentioned workshop is being organized by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) in collaboration with the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport of Nepal.  The objective of the Workshop is to enhance capacity of transport planner and policymakers to plan for resilient and inclusive public transport and mass transit system in Kathmandu valley. The Workshop will also provide opportunity to government officials, experts and related stakeholders to discuss options for developing a comprehensive public transport system in Kathmandu valley. The Workshop aims to bring together relevant transport and urban development experts and stakeholders from public and private sectors, NGOs and academia, national and international experts to share experiences and discuss various issues, challenges as well as strategies on enhancing resilience and inclusiveness in planning of mass transit and urban public transport systems. The workshop also provides opportunities for the relevant officials  and experts Nepal to learn from the experience of other Asian countries in planning, developing and operating light rail transit and mass transit systems.
