The present information note, prepared by the secretariat with a contribution from the Asia-Pacific Regional Centre of the United Nations Development Programme, provides a concise review of available international and national statistical disaster databases. It points to the need to improve the capacity to collect and analyse disaster-related data and statistics and to improve collaboration between national statistical systems and disaster management authority.
