The eleventh Global South-South Development Expo (GSSD Expo) is being co-organized by the Government of Thailand, the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC) in conjunction with more than 20 United Nations agencies and 100 plus partners.
This year the United Nations International Day for South-South Cooperation will be commemorated on 12 September 2022 in conjunction with the opening of the GSSD Expo.
The media are invited and encouraged to attend all Expo events.
The GSSD Expo 2022 will be the first-ever GSSD Expo to be held in the Asian and Pacific region; the first one after the Second High-level UN Conference on South-South Cooperation (BAPA+40); and the very first GSSD Expo convened in hybrid formats (both in-person and virtual) to allow active participation of stakeholders from around the world. 4000+ South-South and triangular cooperation stakeholders are registered to attend.
This Expo is a one-of-a-kind platform for showcasing development initiatives while leveraging the complementary strengths of all institutional partners in addressing global and regional challenges toward achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

GSSD Expo 2022, under the theme Advancing South-South and Triangular Cooperation for Sustainable COVID-19 Recovery: Towards a smart and resilient future is a strategic opportunity for countries, multilateral and intergovernmental institutions, businesses, organizations and citizens alike. The GSSD Expo, its multiple side-events, exhibition of solutions, and the Directors-General Forums of national and regional authorities will facilitate the sharing and scaling up of sustainable South-South and triangular strategies for COVID-19 recovery and inclusive growth.
Since its inception in 2008, the GSSD Expo has featured documented best practices from hundreds of partner countries, UN agencies, private-sector enterprises and civil society organizations. To effectively build on this broad global partnership, the thematic areas of GSSD Expo 2022 address South-South and triangular cooperation for sustainable COVID-19 recovery and development with particular focus on: (i) Digitalization and Smart Future; (ii) SDG aligned South-South Approaches and Practices, Trade and Investment; (iii) Role of Youth and Women, Volunteerism and Entrepreneurship, and Public-Private Partnership; (iv) Creative Economy and Sustainable Tourism; (v) Green Recovery, Environmental Sustainability and Climate Action; (vi) Food Security and Supply Chain; (vii) Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change; and (viii) Public Health Preparedness and Emergency Response.
