Seventh session of the SPECA Project Working Group on Knowledge-based Development
The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) are co-organizing the seventh session of the SPECA Project Working Group on Knowledge-based Development (PWG on KBD). The session will be organised in Dushanbe, Tajikistan on 17 June 2015.
In line with the overall objectives of SPECA to support its participating countries in developing subregional cooperation, and integrating their economies into the world economy, the PWG on KBD provides a forum for discussion on issues related to knowledge-based development, including information and communication technologies (ICT) related policy and regulatory issues. The PWG on KBD promotes and supports policies on knowledge-based development, facilitates cooperation between SPECA countries and other regional initiatives, and coordinates capacity-building and institutional strengthening activities.
The 7th session of the SPECA Project Working Group on Knowledge-based Development will be held back to back with the International Conference on “Practical steps towards a knowledge-based economy”. In the context of this conference, ESCAP will organize a session on Improving Broadband Connectivity in Central Asia, with the support of the Internet Society (ISOC).
