Second Meeting of the Regional Steering Group for Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS)
The Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) conducted the second meeting of the Regional Steering Group for Civil Registration and Vital Statistics, from 6 to 7 September 2016 in Bangkok, Thailand.
The Regional Steering Group comprises 30 members: 22 member States and 8 development partners. It provides guidance for the implementation of the Regional Action Framework on Civil Registration and Vital Statistics in Asia and the Pacific, and is entrusted to act as custodian of the Asia and Pacific CRVS Decade (2015 - 2024). Membership of the Regional Steering Group was endorsed by the ESCAP Commission at its seventy-first session in May 2015 (http://www.unescap.org/events/first-meeting-regional-steering-group-civi...).
During the meeting, the Regional Steering Group were to: i) review the key findings of the baseline report under the Regional Action framework and the recommendations by the 72nd Commission session, ii) evaluate the main achievements of the Regional Steering Group and identify priorities (immediate and future); and iii) identify key priorities for regional support.
