Regional Expert Group Meeting on Capacity Development for Disaster Information Management
The Regional Expert Group Meeting on Capacity Development for Disaster Information Management is organized by the Information and Communications Technology and Disaster Risk Reduction Division of ESCAP from 21 to 22 October 2014 in Bangkok.
In line with Commission resolution 67/4 of 25 May 2011 on the establishment of the Asian and Pacific centre for the development of disaster information management, the Asian and Pacific Centre for the Development of Disaster Information Management (APDIM) in Tehran has put in place a programme of work related to capacity development in disaster information management for vulnerable subregions/countries of ESCAP. It envisages addressing existing gaps and help building the institutional capacities in disaster information management of vulnerable countries of the region. The Regional Expert Group Meeting provides a platform for key stakeholders from ESCAP member States to share information and good practices, understand the critical gaps in disaster information supply chains and related institutional and policy issues in the region, review the work programme of APDIM and discuss opportunities for capacity development and the way forward to narrow down the gaps in disaster information management through regional cooperation and South-South cooperation.
