Philippines Training of Trainers on Data-Driven Governance

The Asian and Pacific Training Centre for ICT for Development (APCICT/ESCAP), in cooperation with the Department of Information and Communications Technology of the Republic of the Philippines (DICT), is organizing the National Training of Trainers (ToT) on Data-Driven Governance on 26 to 28 February 2019 in Manila. This will mark the first national roll-out of the Centre’s latest Academy module on ‘Realizing Data-Driven Governance’ which was launched in December 2018.

The TOT will be attended by 40 participants comprising of government leaders and potential trainers from central and local governments, training institutions, and other stakeholders for capacity development of civil servants in the Philippines. It aims to enhance participants’ knowledge and understanding of the policy, management and technical issues related to developing and implementing data-driven governance. With the knowledge acquired in this training, participants will become part of a network of local resource persons and trainers who can help advocate, deliver training, and implement the module in the Philippines.

About the Module on Realizing Data-Driven Governance

APCICT’s training module on “Realizing Data-Driven Governance” was designed for government officials in developing countries and aims to help them understand the role of accurate, accessible, timely and reliable data in enhancing governance, formulating national policies and strategies, and delivering services. It emphasizes on the role of data to support evidence-based policymaking, and in implementing and monitoring progress on the Sustainable Development Goals.

The module is the latest addition to the “Academy of ICT Essentials for Government Leaders Programme” (Academy), APCICT’s flagship initiative to equip government officials and policymakers with the essential knowledge and skills to leverage ICT for national and regional socio-economic development.
