MPDD Seminar Series on "Exclusion, Service Delivery and Segmentation" by Dr. Sajjad Zohir, Director, Economic Research Group, Dhaka, Bangladesh

The presentation to be made on 19th August 2010 at MPDD/ESCAP draws upon several earlier works on exclusion and service delivery written by Dr. Sajjad Zohir. He graduated from Dhaka University , and later completed his PhD in Economics from the University of Toronto in 1988. He had worked as a Senior Research Fellow at the Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies till 2005 before establishing the Economic Research Group. His research during the 1990's was mostly on trade, SAM-based macro modeling, food policy, microcredit, NGO deliveries and agricultural production.

Dr. Zohir spent several years as an international consultant in leading MDG costing exercises in Nepal and Pakistan; preparing the first MDG country report in Cambodia; and evaluating programmes supporting national development strategies in Mongolia and Cambodia. Dr. Zohir regularly contributed to policy making in Bangladesh, as a member of technical committee in the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics, and as a member of the now-defunct Regulatory Reform Commission, member of the Panel of Economists for the Sixth Five Year Plan.
