Ministerial Conference on Transport, first session was held on 6-11 November 2006 in Busan, Republic of Korea.
An International Agreement on the Trans-Asian Railway Network was signed during UNESCAP’s Ministerial Conference on Transport on 6-11 November in Busan, Korea. The Intergovernmental Agreement on the Trans-Asian Railway (TAR) Network means 28 countries network their 81,000 km of railways stretching across Asia. The railway unlock dry ports. The Ministerial Conference on Transport was organized by UNESCAP and hosted by the Government of the Republic of Korea for issues including regional road safety, financing options for transport and integrating systems more efficiently. Side-events included the International Transport and Logistics Fair, the Asia-Pacific Business Forum 2006 on Transport and Logistics and the Asian Land-Bridge Conference. A similar agreement guided by UNESCAP on the Asian Highway came into force in July 2005.
