The "3rd International Conference on Science, Technology, Innovation (STI) and Development" was held on 6-7 September in Seoul under the main theme of 'Innovation for Shared Prosperity' and sub-theme of 'Cluster, Industrialization and Regional Development.' Co-organized by Science and Technology Policy Institute (STEPI) and World Bank Group Korea Office, the Conference was participated by 8 public entities, namely International Association of Area Studies (IAAS), Korea University Graduate School of Management and Technology (MOT), Korean Academic Society of Industrial Cluster, Seoul National University IT Policy Program (ITPP), Academic Society for Appropriate Technology, Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT), Korea Productivity Association (KPA), and ESCAP, as partner organizations. 

The Conference underscored the importance of STI in international development cooperation and acknowledged the pivotal role of cluster in the economic development of the Republic of Korea by creating jobs based on capacity building in STI and strengthening foundation of small to medium enterprises (SMEs). Moreover, social innovation and entrepreneurship, open and collaborative innovation, as well as policies for the 4th Industrial Revolution were considered as major STI policies required to meet the ambitions of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). To this end, participants voiced the need to further promote industry-research cooperation in regional economic development.
