International Conference on “Practical steps towards a knowledge-based economy”
ESCAP, in collaboration with the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), is jointly organizing the International Conference on “Practical steps towards a knowledge-based economy” on 16-17 June 2015, in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
In the context of the Conference, ESCAP will organize a session on Improving Broadband Connectivity in Central Asia, with the support of the Internet Society (ISOC). Information on the Internet Society is available at: www.internetsociety.org. ESCAP and the Internet Society will present early findings of a study on “Unleashing the Potential of the Internet in Central Asia and Beyond”. The study will identify the obstacles to Internet connectivity in the Central Asian region, and propose policy options for creating an enabling environment for local Internet development and seamless regional Internet connectivity. The study will be presented to regional experts for feedback and inputs towards its finalization. This work is part of ESCAP’s efforts in support to the Information Superhighway for Asia and the Pacific.
The International Conference “Practical steps towards a knowledge-based economy” is organized jointly with the UNECE back to back with the seventh session of the SPECA Project Working Group on Knowledge-based Development.
