The UN Environment international Resource Panel (IRP) established the scenario modelling work stream to create a capability that allows forecasts of future material use, waste and emissions for different socio-economic scenarios and to test the potential for economically beneficial resource efficiency pathways and to assess the co-benefits for climate mitigation.

The scenario modelling working group will hold a meeting in Bangkok which will be co-organized by the IRP and UNESCAP. The main purpose of this meeting is to take stock of the achievements of the modelling and scenario working groups far, to set the directions for future work and to establish a collaborative model with other work streams to be able to perform the integration task in the future and to explore collaboration with UN ESCAP in supporting various knowledge products and technical advisory activities.
