Expert Group Meeting on Facilitating Migration Management in North and Central Asia

The Expert Group Meeting on “Facilitating Migration Management in North and Central Asia” was organized by ESCAP and held from 7 to 8 April 2015 in Moscow.
 
The purpose of the Meeting was to develop policy options for migration management in North and Central Asia. In the meeting, three background studies will be presented and discussed, namely on (1) the legal framework governing international migration in North and Central Asia, (2) the contribution of migrant workers to the economies of destination countries, and (3) the skills profile of migrant workers compared to skill needs in the Russian Federation. In the meeting, experts had the opportunity to discuss the findings of the background studies and jointly develop further policy recommendations for enhanced migration management in the subregion. The comments of the expert meeting also contributed to further improving the background studies and their recommendations. 

The Expert Group Meeting was held as part of the project on “Facilitating Migration Management in North and Central Asia”, which is expected to contribute to improved migration management in North and Central Asia. The participants of the meeting were experts from Government, academia, international organizations, and others.
