Bangkok, Thailand

In order to support the development of intermodal facilities within the framework of the Intergovernmental Agreement on Dry Ports which entered into force in April 2016, ESCAP Transport Division conducted a study on “Strengthening the Development of Dry Ports of International Importance through a Regional Framework” in October 2016.

Under the study, a draft regional framework for the development of dry ports of international importance was prepared. The regional framework aims at facilitating the definition of a common approach to the development and operationalization of dry ports of international importance in support of the establishment of integrated intermodal transport and logistics systems in the region.

ESCAP Transport Division is organizing the above-captioned Expert Group Meeting to review the draft regional framework. The meeting will bring together the government officials and experts from ESCAP member countries dealing with policies and initiatives related to the ongoing and future development of dry ports.
