Expert Group Meeting on Channelling Trade and Investment into Sustainable Development

8 Aug 2017
Bangkok, Thailand

The Expert Group Meeting (EGM) is organized in a context of the Division's research programme and the preparation of the Asia-Pacific Trade and Investment Report (APTIR) 2017, which is a background document for the fifth session of the Committee on Trade and Investment (to be held in Bangkok, 31 October–2 November 2017). APTIR is a recurrent publication prepared by the Trade, Investment and Innovation Division of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific. It provides information on and independent analyses of trends and developments in: intra- and inter-regional trade in goods, services and foreign direct investment. It also discusses the role of trade policy and facilitation measures and preferential trade policies and agreements for the region’s economies. The report offers insights into the impacts of these recent and emerging developments on countries’ abilities to meet the challenges of achieving inclusive and sustainable development. In 2017 issue of APTIR, the thematic part will focus on the trade and investment as a means of implementation for sustainable development.
