ESCAP Disaster Resilience Week

26 Aug 2019 to 30 Aug 2019
Bangkok, Thailand
Open meeting

ESCAP will hold the second Disaster Resilience Week from 26 to 30 August 2019 under the theme “Building disaster resilience through empowerment, inclusion and equality.” Through workshops, expert meetings and exhibits, this Week will serve as a platform for dialogue and peer learning to support the implementation of the Sendai Framework and Sustainable Development Goals and targets relating to resilience and disaster risk reduction. The Disaster Resilience Week will focus on:

- The social dimensions of policy coherence for disaster risk reduction and resilience
- Regional cooperation in multi-hazard early warning systems
- Disaster information and knowledge management
- Applications of space technology and geographic information systems for disaster risk reduction

The Week will also feature an exhibition on the theme as well as the launch of the Asia-Pacific Disaster Report 2019.

The various events will help enrich the deliberations of the ESCAP Committee on Disaster Risk Reduction (CDRR) — the key platform for regional dialogue and intergovernmental collaboration on disaster risk reduction — which will convene its sixth session during the Week, from 26 to 30 August.
