The training course on “Trade Facilitation and Paperless Trade” is being organized by Asia-Pacific Research and Training Network on Trade (ARTNeT) of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) in collaboration with the International Institute for Trade and Development (ITD) and the Ministry of Commerce of Thailand. The participants will include officials and stakeholders from Thailand, Cambodia, Lao People's Democratic Republic, Myanmar, Viet Nam, Nepal, Bhutan and Timor-Leste.
This workshop aims at building the capacity of junior government officials to simplify and automate trade-related procedures. An update on the state of implementation of key trade facilitation and paperless trade measures in the region will be presented. Important agreements and other instruments will be introduced, in particular the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement and the new Framework Agreement on the Facilitation of Cross-Border Paperless Trade in Asia and the Pacific. Participants will learn how to conduct a Business Process Analysis (BPA) project to simplify trade procedures. Good practices in implementing electronic single window and other paperless trade systems for trade facilitation will also be reviewed.
