Bangkok, Thailand,

The Bangkok Forum on Well-Being and Sustainable Development, organized by the Mae Fah Luang Foundation under Thai Royal Patronage, in collaboration with ESCAP, was held on 25 June 2015 in the United Nations Conference Centre, Bangkok. Over 300 participants attended the Forum, representing governments, academia, the private sector, civil society and UN agencies. In addition to a statement by the Executive Secretary of ESCAP, the session featured a keynote statement by Professor Enrico Giovannini, Co-Chair of the UN Independent Expert Advisory Group on the Data Revolution for Sustainable Development. In the discussion that followed, emphasis was placed on both the need to move beyond GDP as a measure of well-being, and the importance of the full integration of the three dimensions of sustainable development - economic growth, social inclusion and environmental sustainability - in advancing the post-2015 development agenda.
