The 23rd Session of the Intergovernmental Consultative Committee (ICC) on the Regional Space Applications Programme for Sustainable Development (RESAP) will be held in UNCC, from 27-29 August 2019, as a part of ESCAP’s Disaster Resilience Week.

During the upcoming session, members of ICC will have in-depth discussion on implementation of the Asia-Pacific Plan of Action on Space Applications for Sustainable Development (2018-2030), which was endorsed by ESCAP member States at the 75th session of the Commission on 31 May 2019, through a resolution entitled “Implementation of the Ministerial Declaration on Space Applications for Sustainable Development in Asia and the Pacific and the Asia-Pacific Plan of Action on Space Applications for Sustainable Development (2018–2030)” (Res.75/6). In addition, ICC members will review and identify the priority in needs and contributions for three Action Areas of the Plan of Action based on the six thematic areas of the Plan of Action. The meeting will also discuss the progress and achievements of RESAP members in supporting the implementation of the Plan of Action and discuss emerging challenges and regional priorities for successfully implementing the 2030 development agenda. The ICC-23 will also hold a joint session with the Sixth Session of Committee of Disaster Risk Reduction (CDRR-6) on regional cooperation for promoting space applications and geospatial information for disaster resilience and sustainable development.
