As a regional institution of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), CSAM is mandated to work with the ESCAP members and association members and other relevant stakeholders to promote sustainable agricultural mechanization for food security, improved rural livelihoods and sustainable development of agriculture across the region,  thereby contributing to the attainment of the Sustainable Developments Goals.

The Centre’s Governing Council consists of a representative designated by the host Government and eight representatives nominated by other members and associate members of ESCAP of relevant line ministries elected by the Commission for a period of three years. The current members of the Governing Council for the period 2022-2025 are Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, India, Malaysia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Viet Name.

The nineteenth session of the Governing Council of the Centre for Sustainable Agricultural Mechanization will review the work report and the administrative and financial status of the Centre in 2023, and provide direction for the Centre’s programme of work in 2024.
