United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) is co-organizing the 13th Regional Environmentally Sustainable Transport (EST) Forum in Asia with the United Nations Centre for Regional Development (UNCRD) of the Division for Sustainable Development Goals, United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs and the Ministry of the Environment of the Government of Japan.
In response to the rapidly evolving situation related to the COVID-19 pandemic, and to ensure the required social distancing measures to mitigate public health risks associated with group gatherings, the Forum will be held virtually via video conference on 10 and 11 November 2020. The Forum will be organized in conjunction with and prior to the Sixth session of the Committee on Transport, which will be held on 12 and 13 November 2020, also in virtual format.
The Forum will be guided by the theme of “Changing the course of Asia’s transport sector through transformational change” and will deliberate on policy, technological and institutional aspects of environmentally sustainable transport that will foster transformational changes in overall transport system and contribute towards the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals and other global commitments.
Representatives, policy makers and experts from member countries and cities and representatives of international organizations are expected to participate in the Forum.
Government representatives are requested to send nomination form and interested participants are requested to send their registration form no later than 30 October 2020 to the Secretariat of the Regional EST Forum at UNCRD by email at [email protected].
