Gingko House is a catering service enterprise with organic ingredients and social objectives, trying to generate welfare for older persons by engaging in business. In 2005, “Everbright Concern Action”, a charitable organization founded by a group of social workers, opened the first "Gingko House" restaurant. The restaurant is run by older persons within the organization's social service center in the Wong Tai Sin District. The purpose is to provide a suitable working environment and employment opportunity for older persons who wish to work, stay active and re-gain self-confidence.
Easy Home is a social enterprise which aims to provide high quality home care and nursing service to elderly since 2009. Services include cleaning service, nursing care, health massage and therapy services. It also creates employment opportunities for trained persons. Elderly could use these services with a moderate fee, and the revenue will go to its parent organization, Senior Citizen Home Safety Association, to support other social services
Since 2008, Daegu Suseong Senior Club (DSSC)* runs projects to promote elderly entreneurship and employment of older persons, with support from the Ministry of Health and Welfare. DSSC's "Du Du" project lets older persons grow and harvest their own beans and process them into products such as tofu, and sell them online. *(All senior clubs in the Republic of Korea were created by Article 23 of the Elderly Welfare Law and are supported by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.)
