"Lemon Cab" is a door-to-door transportation service by a lemon-coloured small van for older persons and persons with disabilities who have difficulties using public transport. It is driven by volunteers from the community. "Lift taxi" is a van equipped with a slope that can transport users in their wheel chairs or beds.
The scheme enables older persons and other eligible persons with disabilities to travel on the Mass Transit Railway (MTR) lines, buses and ferries at a concessionary fare. The Scheme aims to help build a caring and inclusive society by encouraging these groups to participate more in community activities.
Since July 2003, the Macau Red Cross started to provide a daytime Medical Transfer Service for citizens with mobility problems to and from medical institutions. This medical transfer service is available to all persons who are physically disabled and/or using wheelchairs. It also serves the visually impaired and senior citizens living alone.
