Phone Care Service is a system that automatically calls elderly users everyday to confirm their safety and presence. If the user did not pick up the phone, staff will pay a home visit to the elderly. Volunteers will visit the elderly on birthdays and festivals. Elderly, especially those living alone, could apply for this service without any charge.
Through a phone-like device, older persons have 24-hour access to support and care service, community service, referral service, caring and appointment reminder service and short-term emotional counselling service. It is designed for indoor use as it requires a fixed telephone connection. Older persons can use this service by paying a monthly fee. Financially difficult users may apply for a charity subsidy
