A high-level seminar on the economic situation in Asia was held
at the U.N. Conference Centre in Bangkok from 15 to 16 June. Over
one hundred representatives from 29 Asia-Pacific countries attended
the seminar, which was organized by ESCAP, the Asian Development Bank,
the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Officials
from Finance Ministries and Central Banks in Asia discussed ways to
manage capital flows, needed to bring Asia's economies back on track.
They agreed that better cooperation is needed on financial sector
regulation, common standards and sharing of information. |
