UNESCAP – “Working to reduce poverty and manage globalization”

The Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), the regional arm of the United Nations Secretariat in the Asian and Pacific region, works as a "think tank," problem solver, policy advisor and catalyst for long-term social and economic development.

Its current focus is on poverty alleviation, managing globalization, and detecting and tracking emerging social issues.

Over the years UNESCAP has played an important role in many areas of socio-economic progress and was instrumental in creating the Asian Development Bank, the Asian Highway network, and the Mekong River Commission.

YA*TV – “Reinventing television”

 

YA*TV (Young Asia Television) aims to reinvent the useful of television by creating a youthful and lively forum to showcase the ideas and aspirations of Asian youth. It celebrates the rich cultural heritage of the world's most diverse continent by producing programmes that do not simply mimic the West, but explore all that is fascinating and appealing the in East. YA*TV reaches more than 40 million viewers through television networks in Asian countries and was founded Worldview International Foundation as one of its Worldview Global Media companies.
 
 

Government of Norway –“Development that benefits the poorest members of society”

The main goal of the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation is to contribute towards lasting improvements in the economic, social and political conditions under which people live in developing countries, with special emphasis on poverty alleviation, support to the social sector and good governance. According to UNESCAP's Economic and Social Survey of Asia and the Pacific, 2001, Norway is one of only four developed countries that have exceeded the UN's target of contributing 0.7 per cent of GNP for official development assistance.
