Industrial and Technological Development News for Asia and the Pacific
Annual since 1965
This annual publication has as its main objective to disseminate information on important trends and events in industrial and technological developments in the region, specifically for use by the less developed countries who may benefit from the experiences of the more successful countries. The publication covers critical issues in the field of industrial and technological development, and reflects ESCAP's concern with the importance of technological development, technology transfer, and sustainable industrial development implementation status.
Issues of major importance covered in the current issue are: industrial relocation and utilization of complementarities in harnessing the region's potential; issues and perspectives in devising cooperative mechanisms; and technology for poverty alleviation - reaching the poor through rural industrialization.

Small Industry Bulletin for Asia and the Pacific
Annual since 1967
The purpose of this bulletin is to promote an interchange of information among countries of the region so that technological advances, improvements in management and organizational techniques, and effective policy instruments to promote the growth and efficiency of small and medium-scale industries (SMEs) can be shared by all member countries in the region.
The current issue, No.29, focuses on issues related to financing SMEs, and suggests some policy options and strategy alternatives for both Government and SME enterpreneurs to enhance the supply of finance capital for, and its efficient utilization by, SMEs.

Application and Extension of the Technology Atlas: Reports of the National Seminar and Advisory Missions, 1996, 65 pages
The Technology Atlas, originally issued in a series of six volumes, is designed to provide an operational framework for establishing and updating a much needed database geared to development planning. The present monograph entitled Reports of the National Seminar and Advisory Missions on Application and Extension of the Technology Atlas examines the efforts of various countries, namely, China, Sri Lanka and Pakistan, in operationalizing and utilizing the Technology Atlas methodologies to meet their development requirements. A specific focus is given on how national authorities can design and structure a science and technology (S&T) management information system database to facilitate input of data pertinent to the four main parameters of the Technology Atlas (i.e. Technoware, Humanware, Inforware, and Orgaware), which in turn, would facilitate both practical utilization of the Technology Atlas methodologies and the development of derivative S&T indicators.

Institutional Framework and Policy Dialogue for the Promotion of Industrial Restructuring in the Asian and Pacific Region, 1997, 20 pages

Policies and Strategies for Promoting the Role of the Private Sector in Industrial and Technological Development, including Privatization in South Asian Economies, 1996, 171 pages
The main objectives of this study are to highlight the role of the private sector in industrial and technological development in South Asian economies drawing from experiences of other Asian countries, and to elaborate deregulation, liberalization and other reforms in selected Asian countries focusing on the lessons that can be learnt for the South Asian countries. The study also deals with the privatization process in South Asian economies and suggests pragmatic policies and strategies for its success.

Regional Cooperation on the Adoption of ISO 9000 Series, 1996, 112 pages
The publication comprises two parts. Part 1 - Regional cooperation on the adoption of the ISO 9000 series, presents results of the study designed to establish the status of the adoption of the ISO 9000 series by gathering information from the participating countries through visits to national standards bodies (NSBs), quality institutes, quality systems certification agencies, national accreditation bodies, metrological institutions and selected certified companies. Part 2 contains a report of the Consultative Expert Group Meeting on Regional Cooperation on the Adoption of the ISO 9000 Series, held in Bangkok, 12-14 February 1996. The report includes country reports of China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, the Philippines, Republic of Korea, Thailand and Viet Nam.
