PRESS CONFERENCE BY THE SPECIAL RAPPORTEUR ON SITUATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS IN MYANMAR FRIDAY 18 NOVEMBER 2005 AT 12.00 MIDDAY

Bangkok (United Nations Information Services) -- Mr. Paulo Sergio Pinheiro, UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Myanmar shall be in Thailand 9-19 November 2005.

He will be travelling to Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Mae Hong Son to meet with key regional and local actors in the governmental and non-governmental sectors, as well as refugees from Myanmar, in order to continue his dialogue on the human rights situation in Myanmar.

Mr. Pinheiro will host a press conference on Friday 18 November 2005 at 12.00 noon at the Foreign Correspondents' Club in Bangkok, to answer questions regarding his mandate.
