TECHNOLOGY FOR GREEN GROWTH TO BE SHOWCASED
DURING MCED 2005
Environmental technology seen as key to
achieving environmentally sustainable economic growth
Bangkok (United Nations Information Services)
-- As part of the Ministerial Conference on Environment and
Development (MCED) 2005, a forum on environmental technology
will be held from 24-26 March.
The Forum will feature displays of environmental
technologies and include presentations on the related issues
such as water quality, air quality, and waste management.
Presentation topics include policy for development
and promotion of new environmental technology, trends of new
environmental technology, and good practices of environmental
technology.
Participants of note include Ms. Sun Suk Park,
Vice Minister, Ministry of Environment, ROK, Mr. Man Hee Lee,
Chairman, Korea Environmental Management Cooperation, Mr. Oleg
V. Shipin, Professor, Asian Institute of Technology, Mr. Hong
Khanh Nguyen, Deputy Director of Environmental Technology Institute,
Vietnam, and Mr. Youn Soon Ahn, Director of Environmental Technology
Division, Ministry of Environment, ROK, as well as Korean professors,
researches, and businessmen.
Private sector participants include Tomoe (Japan),
Veolia Water System Korea (France), and several Korean companies
including Hanhwa, Hyuseong, Samsung, and Korea Electric Company.
Participants will also have an opportunity to
visit a landfill site in Seoul that was converted into the World
Cup Park.
The Environmental Technology Forum will be held
in the Sapphire Ballroom (#4), 3F of the Lotte Hotel Seoul.
