Free online courses on public-private partnerships (PPP) for infrastructure development

Under a PPP capacity building project, a series of introductory online courses are being developed by the ESCAP Secretariat. These basic courses are for self-study and are tailored to provide a basic minimum knowledge of various issues that policy-makers dealing with PPPs have to be aware of. While the courses are general in nature, most of the examples are from the infrastructure sectors, in particular the transport sector. Upon completion of the online test, you are provided with a certificate of successful completion from UNESCAP.

Free courses under preparation (to appear in July 2008):

  • Public-private partnerhsips in infrastructure development: a primer
  • Financial aspects of PPPs
  • Legal aspects of PPPs

More advanced technical courses are in preparation that will be provided online but in a moderated form. The first such course will be on model concession agreements in the roads sector. These modules are based on the successful Indian example.

Under the project, the ECE Team of Specialists on PPPs is currently developing a "How-to" Toolkit on PPPs, the first products of which are expected to become available by Octoebr 2008.

You may also find useful materials in the sections on training materials and other ESCAP publications.
