About the Section
As countries in the ESCAP region put in place the basic transport infrastructure, inadequate intermodal linkages, regulatory, procedural and documentary bottlenecks inhibit them from fully utilizing this transport capacity. As the same time, the proliferation of bilateral, trilateral, sub-regional facilitation agreements bring with it the prospect of overlapping obligations and the need to ensure consistency at the regional level.
The Transport Facilitation and Logistics Section seeks to assist member countries to integrate all modes of transport, adopt effective multimodal and logistics solutions, overcome non-physical bottlenecks, harmonize legal regimes relating to facilitation and strengthen human resources and institutional capacities.
