| Trans-Asian Railway Partners and Links Organisation for Railway Cooperation (OSJD) In February 1999, ESCAP signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Organisation for Railway Cooperation (OSJD). Established in 1956, OSJD aims to develop international railway traffic and exchange information between member countries. Today the organisation has 27 members: Albania, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bulgaria, China, Cuba, Czech Republic, Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Estonia, Georgia, Hungary, Islamic Republic of Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgystan, Latvia, Lithuania, Mongolia, Poland, Republic of Moldova, Russian Federation, Slovakia, Tajikistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, and Vietn Nam. Recently it has been focussing on increasing the competitiveness of railways, developing infrastructure and introducing progressive transportation technologies.
