Tajikistan

Dushanbe (AH7/AH65) The capital of Tajikistan is located in the western part of the country. The city is a major industrial and cultural center in an area rich in agricultural potential. It is a leading cotton textile center and also home to a university and the Tajik Academy of Sciences.

The Pamirs The Pamirs (the Roof of the World) is a unique high mountain complex located mainly in Tajikistan. From this mountainous hub radiate some of the world's highest ranges: the Hindu Kush, the Karakorams, Himalayas, Kun-Lun and Tien-Shan.

Khojand Khojand (pronounced 'Ho-jan') is the capital of northern Tajikistan and the second largest city. It is one of Tajikistan's oldest towns, founded by Alexander the Great. Commanding the entrance to the Ferghana Valley, Khojand’s former riches spawned palaces, grand mosques and a citadel, before it was destroyed by the Mongols in the early 13th century.
