Islamabad (AH1)
Islamabad, the capital, is located against the backdrop of Margalla Hills.
It is green, spacious and peaceful. The master plan of this modern city
was prepared in 1960. Construction was started in October 1961. The city
came to life on 26 October 1966, when the first office building was occupied.
Takht-E-Bhai, Peshawar (AH1)
Peshawar is very much a frontier town, located near the famous Khyber
Pass. The Shahji-ki Dheri mounds, situated to the east, cover ruins of
the largest Buddhist stupa in the subcontinent (2nd century A.D.). Surrounded
by hills and offering a mysterious charm, this is a charismatic, captivating
city.
Badshahi Mosque, Lahore (AH1)
Lahore is the provincial capital of Punjab and Pakistan’s second
largest city. Apart from being the cultural and academic centre of the
country, Lahore is the Mughal "Show-Window" of Pakistan. The
city is built in the form of a parallelogram, the area within the walls
being about 461 acres.
Karachi (AH4/AH7) Karachi,
the largest and most populous city, presents an interesting and colourful
combination of the old and new. The narrow twisting lanes and alleys of
the old city throb with life alongside wide metalled road and elegant
modern buildings. Within the city, talented artisans produce traditional
handicrafts of exquisite beauty.
