Vientiane (AH11/AH12) Vientiane, the capital, is located on the bank of the Mekong River. It is the center of culture, commerce and administration, with serene Buddhist monasteries and significant monuments. Old French colonial houses are being restored as offices and as restaurants and hotels.

Louang Phrabang (AH12) Louang Phrabang is an outstanding example of the fusion of traditional architecture and Lao urban structures with those built by the Europeans in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site, now becoming increasingly accessible since the upgrading of the airport.
