Transport Route Analysis and
UNESCAP's Time/Cost Methodology
Time-Cost Studies Compendium
As TTD (and others) publish studies applying the time-cost methodology. we are also compiling them for reference and comparison purposes.
While there are caveats about the data (due to small sample sizes, different commodities, possible mismatches in specific start and end points etc), the compendium can assist in general consideration of particular routes over time – particularly to consider whether progress has been made in travel times or travel costs over time. It can also allow comparison of the transport experience of different commodities along the same route. As use of the methodology grows, so too will the quality of comparative information for decision makers.
Current Studies in Progress
Compiled Study Data and Charting Facility
We have also compiled the completed studies into a standard format to assist future comparisons. The "compendium" currently displays all routes that have been studied, and can chart them for the user. As studies are completed, we will update the compendium (and the website).
The compendium of completed routes can be downloaded here (MS Excel format - please note that you must enable macros).
