New
way to measure transport efficiency as proposed at the Almaty meeting
on landlocked and transit developing countries |
| The new time/cost-distance methodology, a simple and practical way of analysing the efficiency of transport routes developed by UNESCAP, is now available online. |
| To use the model, all you have to do is input the data relevant to a particular route into the ready-made spreadsheet, and a graph will be produced automatically to illustrate the time and costs involved in the transportation process. |
| The High-level Meeting on the Role of International, Regional and
Subregional Organizations for the Implementation of the Almaty Programme
of Action held in March 2005 in Almaty recognized the UNESCAP time/cost-distance
methodology as a useful tool to measure progress made in establishing
efficient transit transport systems and to monitor the implementation
of the Almaty Programme of Action. |
